Brew in Motion is an afternoon celebration of contemporary dance and craft beer. Choreographers Meghan Frederick, Maya Orchin and Trina Mannino will share excerpts from their recent/upcoming works. Homebrewers Andrew Berman, Alex Dolginko and Matt Federico will unveil their latest brews along with a special coffee beer collaboration with Joel Rubin of Bodega Coffee. Meghan Frederick is a performer, choreographer and dance educator based in Brooklyn, NY. Her choreography has been shown at Triskelion Arts through WAXworks, Dixon Place, The Wild Project, Dance New Amsterdam, Greenspace Blooms, Open Performance through Movement Research, STUFFED at the Judson Church, Bates Dance Festival and Rutgers University. Meghan has taught dance technique and choreography at Tisch School of the Arts, Rutgers University, Bowdoin College, Hunter College, Dance New Amsterdam, Gibney Dance Center, and 100 Grand. Meghan attended Hampshire College where she designed her own major combining dance and cultural studies and has recently performed with Liz Lerman, Jeffrey Denman Theater Dance Company, Kendra Portier, Maya Orchin, Catherine Galasso, Carlye Eckert, Laura Peterson Choreography, Jules Bakshi and Brian Brooks Moving Company ’08-’14.
Trina Mannino has performed with Anabella Lenzu’s Dance/Drama, ArtBark International, Barbara Mahler Dances, Dance Elixir and Laura Peterson Choreography. She presently studies under Barbara Mahler and Janet Panetta. In 2015, she was a guest teaching artist at the University of Michigan in the dance program’s Dance Master Class Repertory Series. Her writing regularly appears in Dance Europe Magazine and The Dance Enthusiast.
Maya Orchin is a choreographer and performer based in New York. Her work has been presented at established venues such as the 92nd St Y, Judson Church, Center of Performance Research, Dumbo Dance Festival, The Williamsburg Art and Historical Society and more. Internationally she has shown work at Quartiers Danses in Montreal Canada and most recently at Dock 11 in Berlin, Germany. As a performer she has worked with Luis Lara Malvacias, Zoe Scofield, Davis Freeman, Reut Shemesh, Joanna Mendl Shaw, Lynn Neuman, Jody Sperling, Maurice Fraga, and Danielle Russo. She has assisted on choreographic projects for MOMA PS1 and NIKE. Most recently she performed at Kampnagel in Hamburg with Jarvis Cocker and Chilly Gonzales. Joel Rubin started working in coffee about 5 years ago as a barista in midtown. He previously led public coffee education for Blue Bottle, and is currently managing the coffee program at Tygershark where the interplay between food coffee and cocktails has provided a fertile grounds for innovation. He's now excited to bring this innovation to the dance floor.
